Frequently asked questions
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a naturally occurring, highly suggestive state that we all experience every day of our lives. Being in hypnosis is just like daydreaming. Hypnotherapy is a perfectly safe and natural method of using hypnosis to reorganise your thoughts and behaviours to bring about beneficial change for many issues.

What does hypnosis feel like?
Every human being has already experienced hypnosis, whether by accident or by design. We experience this commonly occurring and natural state of mind unknowingly all the time. It just feels so natural and familiar to us. For example, if you've ever watched a television program or movie and become totally absorbed in the program, you were probably in a light trance. This trance state is what caused you to not hear your spouse calling you to dinner, until they raised their voice for the third time. [Advertisers understand this, so they use television programs to induce a hypnotic trance and give you hypnotic suggestions, called commercials!]
Another common example of this naturally occurring state is when you are driving down the road, with your mind focused on some other task [a day dream perhaps], and next thing you know, you’ve missed your exit. This is known as "highway hypnosis.”

What is NLP?
NLP [Neuro Linguistic Programming] is the study of the structure of subjective experience and what can be calculated from it. NLP has been around since the 1970’s, when its co-founders Richard Bandler and John Grinder first modelled successful therapists Virginia Satir, Gregory Bateson, Fritz Perls and Milton Erickson. They initially studied their behaviours, patterns and techniques, creating a system to replicate their success and make those skills more easily transferable. These models, techniques and strategies evolved from modelling excellence, in order to help us better understand how our thought processes and behaviours, including how the language we use, influences the way we think and the results we get. Modelling excellence in any field enables us to bring about a positive change in ourselves and others.
NLP has also been defined as a “users manual for the mind,” because studying NLP gives us insights into how our thinking patterns can affect every aspect of our daily lives.
**Please note**
Some people respond better to hypnosis than others. No hypnotherapist can guarantee 100% success with every single client. If you suffer with epilepsy or any type of mental illness, then you may need a referral letter from your doctor prior to having hypnotherapy.
